Welcome to Fitzhugh Neighbors!

Fitzhugh Neighbors, a grassroots organization dedicated to advocating for Responsible Growth and Development, prioritizes the safety and well-being of Dripping Springs and Southwest Austin residents, as well as its small businesses. Our central concern at the time, revolves around opposing the construction of a multi-story, open-air Amphitheater on Fitzhugh Road. While we understand the value of a traditional concert venue, this proposed development presents unique challenges. Hosting up to 5000 people in a tranquil area renowned for its pristine countryside and abundant wildlife raises significant concerns. The noise and light pollution from such a venue would disturb wildlife habitats and strain local infrastructure ill-equipped to handle such large-scale events.

Moreover, the associated risks extend beyond residents and businesses to include attendees and performers. The use of pyrotechnics and elaborate light shows not only poses fire hazards but also threatens the Dark Sky community that Dripping Springs takes pride in preserving. Furthermore, the proposed location along the hazardous, winding, and unlit Fitzhugh Road poses additional safety risks for concertgoers and musicians, given its treacherous conditions and susceptibility to flooding. Additionally, the development's wastewater fields pose a threat to nearby Barton Creek 1/2 mile downhill, further endangering our environment and water resources.

No other development has ever been permitted to build so close to Barton Creek. This is just the wrong location. Residents have every right to have their health and safety protected from invasive developments. It's the law. Fitzhugh Neighbors remains steadfast in our commitment to preserving Central Texas' scarce water resources and the pristine beauty of our Hill Country landscapes. Through community unity and proactive advocacy, we strive to foster positive change and create neighborhoods we can all proudly call home.

Fitzhugh Neighbors is a Texas Not for Profit Corporation.  Donations are tax deductible and are administered by our partner, Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance (GEAA). Join us in shaping a stronger community together!
